I was going to write about this date (9.09.2009), but just by opening the Yahoo/MSN page you can find articles about it so I’m just gonna drop that.

Moving on…

Believe it or not, I’ve been trying my best to put money away (like everyone else). Funny enough, nothing seemed to work and I still ended up broke. Why? There are so many reasons I don’t even know where to start. But, being broke for me isn’t such a big problem cause I can live without spending money (just with money for the house and food). My problem is that everything around me is breaking down.

First, my Nokia phone broke down. It isn’t worth repairing it, it’s already 2-3 years old and it was used by two people before me. But it’s not like I don’t have a phone, I still have my old Motorola (which is 2 years old but works fine) and I plan on buying a new phone in December, when I will renew my contract (this way I’ll get 20% off for new phones so it’s worth waiting).

Today, my Philips MP3 player refused to open. This really sucks cause I like listening to music when I walk home, at home, when I’m alone, etc. I tried to repair it with the Device Manager software, but I’m afraid I’m gonna have to declare it dead. Again, this MP3 player was a Christmas gift from my brother (this was 3 years ago, the warranty was for 2 years). At least I’m happy the prices at MP3 (MP4) players have gone down. But I don’t know when I’ll buy a new one, it’s not my priority right now.

My priority right now are shoes. No, I’m not a superficial woman that buys shoes every season just because her old ones aren’t fashionable. I’m the kind of person that buys shoes because her old ones aren’t functional anymore. I’m basically “living” with just one pair or sneakers (and I don’t know for how long I can still wear them).

One of the things I hate the most is going shopping for clothes and shoes. Why?

Because my best friend loves shopping, and let’s just say that we could easily win a walking marathon.

Because all the shop assistants give you “looks” (the only thing they are good at is measuring people up and act bitchy)

Because all the shops have very similar products but different prices. That’s why I learned that is best to shop directly from the source aka the sewing factory (yesterday I bought an overcoat with just 50$ from the factory… the coats were for Dolce and Gabbana shop here in Bucharest and I don’t even want to think of the price tag when they will reach the shop. I guess it pays to work in a place with different other firms).

Because of the fashion thing, every season you can bet you’ll find the majority of clothes/shoes in just one color (the color that is “in”).

Because people think shopping is a fun thing to do in their free time, and thus the shops are full with people (99% women) that just go window shopping just in case there’s something out there they might want in the near future.

Right now, I don’t know what’s worse: spending the money or having to find new products to replace the old ones. But, I’m glad that with these hard times the prices have gone down and that there are a lot of shops having sales right now. I guess I’ll just have to plan a day with Johnny and my friend (Alex) to go shopping and hopefully it will rain and be really cold so people won’t come out of their houses.

PS: I’m looking to buy a Nokia phone and a MP3/MP4 player from Sony or Philips that will last me another 2-3 years. Does anyone have any ideas which are best but at a reasonable price?
