I’m starting to think that Alexis Bledel will end up like Jenifer Aniston: just a pretty face, but without the fame and money.
Although I like Alexis (her character Rory from “The Gilmore Girls” won me over) it feels like she’s not going anywhere. And I’m pretty sure it’s because she keeps on playing the same role but in different movies.
I want to say that I watched “The Good Guy” but I know that fast forwarding doesn’t count. I just couldn’t sit still to watch the entire movie. And this comes from someone who can watch a 3 hour Bollywood movie.
“The Good Guy” was awful! It was hard to watch (and not because it had anything intellectual in it). I don’t blame Alexis or any other actors, but the story itself.
Ambitious young Manhattanite and urban conservationist Beth wants it all: a good job, good friends, and a good guy to share the city with. Of course that last one is often the trickiest of all. Beth falls hard for Tommy, a sexy, young Wall Street hot-shot. But just as everything seems to be falling into place, complications arise in the form of Tommy’s sensitive and handsome co-worker Daniel. Beth soon learns that the game of love in the big city is a lot like Wall Street — high risk, high reward and everybody has an angle.

I watched about 40 minutes (normally) and I don’t even remember the name of the main character, but I do remember that Alexis character (Beth) was reading “Lolita” by Vladimir Nabokov at some point.
I am actually going to look the book up. At least one good thing came out from my 40 wasted minutes.
I’m thinking that, if the movie was a little bit more quirky and maybe with some jokes and fun thrown in, it would’ve been good. But it was dull and it bored me. I was bored to begin with and I was hoping a good movie will do the trick and cheer me up. This wasn’t a good movie.
I wonder why Alexis doesn’t breach out and try different things? She doesn’t seem to lack anything and yet she is still doing small movies that aren’t even released outside the U.S.
I haven’t even seen any of her movies (besides “The Gilmore Girls” and “The Sisterhood of travelling pants”) on TV or at least at the cinema.
Yet, her “ex-mother”, Lauren Graham is doing pretty good and if you go at Hollywood Multiplex in Bucharest Mall you’ll see that her movie “The Answer Man” aka “Arlen Faber” is being screened. And from what I heard it’s actually good.
Hopefully, Alexis other movies (“Post Grad”, “The Conspirator” and “Sleepaway camp reunion”) will be at least watchable.
