Fun times

Fun times are here! And I intend to make the most of them.

We had a full day! It might’ve started with us working our ass off (me at work and Johnny doing errands), but it ended on a nice note. We went to the country side, where we had a nice barbecue with my parents.

I love it there since it’s nice and quiet. The garden is beautiful and the roses are in full bloom.

It’s also strawberry season! While I don’t enjoy picking the strawberries since it’s hard work, I do enjoy eating them. I was pretty tired, but I did manage to pick enough for us and for my in-laws. I’m not sure when we’ll go to the country side again, but I hope we get the chance soon, because it would be a pity to miss on all the good stuff we can find there.

It was fun and for Pluto, since he got the chance to meet his two younger brothers (from another mother). Not only that, but he meet for the first time a buffalo and cows.

I am thinking seriously of spending one weekend at the country side. Just to sleep all day and relax. It’s so perfect there, because there is no cell phone signal, no Internet, nothing of the modern day distractions. I would just like to go there and read a book, eat good homemade food and just fall asleep while the crickets sing.

I’m just not sure how that idea would go with Johnny, since he enjoys falling asleep with the TV on.

Either way, it was a fun day. I might be dead tired, but I’m happy.

Needlepoint Project

I know it’s been a long time since I posted about my hobbies. But, that doesn’t mean that I’ve given up on them. I’ve started a new needlepoint projectGeorge Dunlop Leslie – This Is The Way We Wash Our Clothes.

Laundry Room

It’s a different theme from what I usually stitch, but I couldn’t resist the cuteness of the girl. I’ve been able to advance on it quite a bit, but only because I did the easy parts first and because I had a lot of free time on my hands. Now, I’m not sure how I’ll be able to fit in my stitching with my new schedule.

It’s a pretty big project and I’m hoping that in 2 months it will be finished. I haven’t finished any stitching projects lately (and I’ve started quite a few) and it feels like I’m not getting anywhere with them. Yet, I am hoping that this year I will finish and frame at least one of my canvases. OK, maybe not frame one (since frames are expensive), but at least have one finished project.

My only concern with this specific project is that the colors of the floss are darker than the actual painting. Now I’m not sure of how it will turn out, but I still haven’t added the light parts (since I don’t want them to get dirty). So, the overall feeling of this project might change till I finish it.

I want to finish this project, because I have a second one similar to it and I want to have the pair. That and I want to buy new stitching kits, especially with flowers, landscapes or even animals. It’s been a long time since I refreshed my stitching basket or my needlepoint projects.

It’s just right

I love the weather that we are having now. It’s just right.

I somehow regret not going out more. I would love to take a walk in the park or go the countryside more often. But, we need to stay focused and get back on tracks. The main priority is to fix as many things as possible.

Yet, now that I am also working, time goes slowly. I feel like the days have become longer. I’m guessing that’s because I have more responsibilities now and the workload has increased.

That, or maybe I am taking things slowly and focusing on one task at a time.

Still, I can’t complain.

Even if there are plenty of things to get done (cleaning is just a never ending chore with two pets around the house), we still have time for ourselves. For example, this Monday, we went to the country side where we had a nice lunch and were able to relax for a couple of hours.

Of course, Pluto had to come with us.

I think we are neglecting Marlanu’ (our cat), but then again he stayed at home and slept the whole day.

I am hoping that in the near future we will be able to have more outings and enjoy this nice weather. I miss those one day road trips to different places, or our random outings.

Oh well, taking care of our home, pets and working to make some extra cash is the right thing to do at the moment.

First day of work

My vacation is over. Today is my first day of work and I’m a bit nervous.

I must admit, I got used with staying home and doing nothing but chores and taking care of our pets. It was easy. I’m nervous on this first day of work, because I’m going back to a place where people know me. It’s different from starting in a new place.

At least I know it will be fun seeing them again. Also, I’m curious to see how things have changed in almost one year. I guess I’m happy. I’m in a much better place than I was two months ago. I don’t have that feeling of dread/repulsion as I did with my temp job.

It shall be interesting.

I am also aware that my personal time will be reduced to nothing, taking into account the household chores, cooking and the pets. Still, I am happy.

And on a different note, at least Pluto has grown up and he doesn’t need so much attention as before.

That, and I can trust Marlanu’ to take good care of him. Oh well, what’s the worst thing that can happen? After all, we basically changed the entire house just so we wouldn’t have any surprises with the dog.
