Fun times

Fun times are here! And I intend to make the most of them.

We had a full day! It might’ve started with us working our ass off (me at work and Johnny doing errands), but it ended on a nice note. We went to the country side, where we had a nice barbecue with my parents.

I love it there since it’s nice and quiet. The garden is beautiful and the roses are in full bloom.

It’s also strawberry season! While I don’t enjoy picking the strawberries since it’s hard work, I do enjoy eating them. I was pretty tired, but I did manage to pick enough for us and for my in-laws. I’m not sure when we’ll go to the country side again, but I hope we get the chance soon, because it would be a pity to miss on all the good stuff we can find there.

It was fun and for Pluto, since he got the chance to meet his two younger brothers (from another mother). Not only that, but he meet for the first time a buffalo and cows.

I am thinking seriously of spending one weekend at the country side. Just to sleep all day and relax. It’s so perfect there, because there is no cell phone signal, no Internet, nothing of the modern day distractions. I would just like to go there and read a book, eat good homemade food and just fall asleep while the crickets sing.

I’m just not sure how that idea would go with Johnny, since he enjoys falling asleep with the TV on.

Either way, it was a fun day. I might be dead tired, but I’m happy.

Needlepoint Project

I know it’s been a long time since I posted about my hobbies. But, that doesn’t mean that I’ve given up on them. I’ve started a new needlepoint projectGeorge Dunlop Leslie – This Is The Way We Wash Our Clothes.

Laundry Room

It’s a different theme from what I usually stitch, but I couldn’t resist the cuteness of the girl. I’ve been able to advance on it quite a bit, but only because I did the easy parts first and because I had a lot of free time on my hands. Now, I’m not sure how I’ll be able to fit in my stitching with my new schedule.

Needlepoint project detailNeedlepoint Project

It’s a pretty big project and I’m hoping that in 2 months it will be finished. I haven’t finished any stitching projects lately (and I’ve started quite a few) and it feels like I’m not getting anywhere with them. Yet, I am hoping that this year I will finish and frame at least one of my canvases. OK, maybe not frame one (since frames are expensive), but at least have one finished project.

My only concern with this specific project is that the colors of the floss are darker than the actual painting. Now I’m not sure of how it will turn out, but I still haven’t added the light parts (since I don’t want them to get dirty). So, the overall feeling of this project might change till I finish it.

I want to finish this project, because I have a second one similar to it and I want to have the pair. That and I want to buy new stitching kits, especially with flowers, landscapes or even animals. It’s been a long time since I refreshed my stitching basket or my needlepoint projects.

It’s just right

I love the weather that we are having now. It’s just right.

It's just right

I somehow regret not going out more. I would love to take a walk in the park or go the countryside more often. But, we need to stay focused and get back on tracks. The main priority is to fix as many things as possible.

Yet, now that I am also working, time goes slowly. I feel like the days have become longer. I’m guessing that’s because I have more responsibilities now and the workload has increased.

That, or maybe I am taking things slowly and focusing on one task at a time.

Still, I can’t complain.

Even if there are plenty of things to get done (cleaning is just a never ending chore with two pets around the house), we still have time for ourselves. For example, this Monday, we went to the country side where we had a nice lunch and were able to relax for a couple of hours.

The gardenPluto in the garden

Of course, Pluto had to come with us.

I think we are neglecting Marlanu’ (our cat), but then again he stayed at home and slept the whole day.

Pluto enjoying the grass

I am hoping that in the near future we will be able to have more outings and enjoy this nice weather. I miss those one day road trips to different places, or our random outings.

Oh well, taking care of our home, pets and working to make some extra cash is the right thing to do at the moment.

Dogs

Dogs!

Who would’ve thought that getting a dog would open so many doors. We’ve managed to make new friends because of Pluto. Not only that, but somehow a small dog club was created.

Each day, at 7 PM we get together and chit chat while our 4 legged friends play around. We also get together during weekends, if the weather allows us and we go to the park.

It’s great fun!

It’s also refreshing to have someone to talk to about certain subjects that non-pet owners will never understand. It’s always nice and comforting to have new friends.

Pluto and a Black LabradorDat asssss!

I was really thinking a couple a weeks ago that if I cannot find a decent job, till summer comes, I will start my own dog walking company. I would do it for free actually. I am also happy that the weather is turning nice (even if we have some rain from time to time) and that we can have weekend outings to the park.

The only thing that annoyed me regarding to dogs, is the police. I’ve been stopped twice so far by police in less than 2 weeks, just because I was walking my dog. They are trying to make sure all dog owners are aware of the new laws:

1. All dogs must be kept on a leash, except for special places meant for them to play in,
2. All dog owners need to clean up after their dogs.
3. All dogs that are not a pure breed need to be sterilized.
4. All dogs need to have that microchip implant.

I agree with all of the above. We’ve always cleaned after Pluto. We walk him on his leash (he has 3 of them). He is a pure breed so we don’t need to sterilize him, but we do need to pay taxes because of it. And he has that microchip implant.

Yet, because he is a big puppy and that I am a girl, the police actually stops me every time they see me. They never stop me when I am with someone else; they never stop John even if he sometimes plays with Pluto without a leash in front of our apartment building and they never stop people with small breeds.

I guess I’m special like that. Either way dogs are great.

New stitching project

I’ve been working on a new stitching project. It’s a cross stitch miniature and it’s very different from anything I’ve stitched so far.

New stitching project Progress on the new stitching project Cross stitch miniature Almost done, cross stitch miniature

Because I am stressing about getting a job, I couldn’t get in the right mood to work on the needlepoint projects that I’ve started last year. There are a bit tedious and you need to stitch for a couple of days so you can see some results. This is the result of a month stitching (5-6 hours a day).

Krif needlepoint project

While I do love needlepoint more than cross stitch, it’s always good to have a break from it from time to time.

I’m not sure what I will do with the end result of my new stitching project. I think I will browse around and see what others are doing with their miniatures. After all, I’m just a newbie when it comes to adding the finishing touches to needlepoint/cross stitch projects. The best I did so far was to frame 2 of my needlepoint work.

The rest of my projects just sit in a folder (so they won’t get dirty). While needlepoint can be framed and look stunning on the wall, with cross stitch it’s a bit different. I doubt I will find a suitable place for it. So best to make something practical out of it.

Hopefully I shall finish it by the end of the week and have another thing to brag about. Yes, I am a proud stitcher even if I can’t compare with some people out there.

Out and about

We’ve been out and about, doing our business. Johnny always at work, me with the two bastards (doing house work and job hunting).

We’ve settled into a new routine. While I do enjoy slacking around, there’s been a bit off too much slacking for me (7 months to be more precise). I am happy that the job market started moving a lil bit.

On Monday I’ll have my first interview. I know I should be happy for this, but I am not. It’s not that I don’t want to get back to work, it’s more that I do not want to get back to work in a certain field. Either way, I decided that I will go and see what they have to offer and if it’s enough to renounce my sanity.

Until then, I shall be out and about with Pluto. I love dog walking. I cannot believe how many people I’ve meet and how many friends I’ve made, just because I have a dog. I also noticed that when we just walk around, Pluto looks a bit down. But, if we meet other (playful) dogs or we just play with a ball, he is the most happy.

I hope that this weekend I will have the chance to take him to the park. There are a lot of dogs there and I’m sure he will have lots of fun. Until then, we shall play on the back streets, making sure no cars come our way. I guess that’s the only disadvantage of having a dog in the city.

Family day off (updated version)

In 2013 I posted a picture with our small family. It was the official family day off picture!

Family day off

I really love this photo. It represents us 100%. And ever since we got Pluto I wanted to re-create the photo. The new photo didn’t turn out as nice as the old one (since you can’t see my legs which are under the blanket) but it is a family photo nonetheless.

Family day off photo (updated version)

I was reading, Johnny was playing GTA 5 and the two furry bastards were just relaxing with us. I really do love it when all of us can share the bed and get along. Usually, the Pluto and Marlanu’ are wrecking the house, Johnny is out on errands or doing stuff on his PC, and I browse the Internet to amuse myself (or job hunting).

I will have to wait for summer or at least spring to get the same type of photo as the original. It will be a couple of months but it will be worth the waiting. Until then I am sure I will add more photos to my collection. After all, there isn’t a day where Pluto and Marlanu’ have their photo taken.

It’s nice to look over old photos and see how much they’ve grown, how we’ve changed or how things around us have changed. I guess, since we didn’t have many pictures of us as kids we are trying to make it up. They are our precious moments and I’m sure we’re cherish them in our old days.

Pluto and Marlanu

Pluto and Marlanu'
Sleepy time for Pluto and Marlanu’.

It seems that my two furry friends, Pluto and Marlanu’, started getting along. I cannot describe how much joy these two bring me.

I actually feel like a proud mother that needs to show them off, even if I am fully aware it is annoying. After all, there are so many pets out there, probably with owners that have better photography skills than I do.

Yet, I feel there are no two pets alike. And I also feel, that no one has a labrador retriever as Pluto or a cat like Marlanu’.

Marlanu' and Pluto Marlanu' and Pluto relaxing away

As one might say, they are my precious.

Why the sudden need to gush over them? Because I can. That and because they really do bring out the best in me and John, they make our days better and because they love us at our worst as much as they do at our best. I hope, they will have a great life and many adventures with us.

I also hope, that one day I will print out those albums that I’ve been working on for the last couple of years (for Marlanu’) / months (for Pluto). Not many people have their photographs printed out these days, but I love them. I love arranging them all over the house, or in lovely albums that I can show to close friends.

Hopefully, I will get my chance till the end of this year. That means I still have 11 months and 22 days left to make it happen.

Let the job hunting begin!

~~~~ Let the job hunting begin! ~~~~
It’s Monday and everyone is going back to work while I am home, drinking my coffee and looking over job ads. I shall start slow, updating my CV and then just browse around to see what it’s in demand and what I would like to do.
I know for sure I won’t have any chance of getting a job in January, but I’m still hoping *fingers crossed*.
Even Pluto was happy to sit like a boss at Johnny’s workplace.
Like a boss! Let the job hunting begin.
Truthfully, I am scared a little bit. Once again, I’m out of my comfort zone. I am hoping that I won’t end up in another customer service job. I don’t have the nerves for it.
I will update how the job hunting goes and I will try to keep my spirits high and my mind busy. I know last time my spirits went downhill after one month of going to every interview possible and getting no results.
I will keep busy, I have a household to run. And it’s not easy with two pets (one which is not house trained, yet) running around.
My goal/resolution for January is to put everything in order: the house, my personal schedule and my hobbies. That means a lot of cleaning and organizing, waking up early and setting a regular schedule for Pluto (for his walks) and just enjoy my hobbies while I still can (after all, I decided this year I shall read 100 books, that alone should take up considerable free time).
So, let the job hunting begin (and let it be a good job hunt).
Good Morning 2015!
Good Morning 2015!
Good morning 2015
Enjoying a good cup of coffee.
And what a beautiful and sunny way to start of the new year. If it weren’t for the bitter cold, I might’ve enjoyed it more.
I admit, we had a slow start this year.
The 1st of January was spent mostly in bed, sleeping off the New Year’s party. We had a lovely party with a few close friends, family members and mostly strangers (but nice ones).
I would also like to mention, that while everyone was either going home or already sleeping (this was around 7AM) I was busy cleaning up the house. I’m not complaining, I’m actually bragging. First of all, I was the only one still standing, still clear headed and full of energy. Also, I didn’t want my pets (Pluto and Marlanu’) to get their paws dirty, drunk or to break anything.
So, as far as I’m concerned I’m right on track with my resolutions.
On the 2nd of January we had our trip to the countryside. It the second year in a row that on the first days of the year we visit my parents. On our way there we also had the chance to see the red train.
Red train Red train on its way.
This year we weren’t alone. My brother, his wife and my 2 nieces also came along. It was a nice surprise for my parents. They live alone and during the winter months they don’t get many visits from us, because of the snow and the condition of the roads. We saw an opportunity to make them happy and we took it.
We also had Pluto with us. At first we were reluctant to take the dog with us since it was bloody cold and we knew my parents would not allow him in the house.
But, there were no problems. He spent 3 hours outside, playing with 2 little dogs that my parents own. He was the most happy and derpy dog ever.
2 little countryside puppiesDerpy Pluto
There was snow, good food and good company. It was a nice outing.
My parents "Christmas" tree. Winter landscape
This year I will try my best for us to have as many road trips as possible. They are much better than long vacations in far away places. But for now, we shall stay at home and work our butts off to get back on track financially. It’s the most important thing for the well being of our family (at the moment).
Till then I will be busy with the house chores. I want to get this place clean and organized. I know I have no chance of getting a job straight away, so I better keep myself as busy as possible.
Pluto and Marlanu'
And as a bonus, here are my two lovelies: Pluto and Marlanu’ enjoying a tender moment.
