A cold and wet winter

We’re having a very cold and wet winter. It just won’t stop raining and it’s bloody cold.

For a couple of days I had no problem with the rain. It was fun walking Pluto to the park and seeing him turn from a cute puppy into a filthy pig. He made a few friends and he was just the happiest dog ever.

We used to hang around in the park for 2 hours each day. It was so nice to see Pluto exhausted from playing and not having to worry that he’ll destroy the house (puppies tend to do that when bored). Of course, Pluto had to take a bath everytime we got  home.

Dirty Pluto

Now, nobody will let their dogs play. They don’t want them to get dirty. While I do understand that I have plenty of free time on my hands, I cannot understand why people won’t let their dogs be dogs. So what if they get dirty? You can rinse out the dirt in a couple of minutes. So what if your dog gets you dirty? Thank God for washing machines.

It really sucks, cause December started off so well. It snowed for 2 days straight.

Everything was covered in snow and the skies were a beautiful gray color.

I was so happy. Then it started raining and it just won’t stop. So, instead of taking beautiful pictures of Pluto, snow and just us enjoying the winter holidays, we are stuck inside the house.

2 more weeks till the Christmas holidays. I want snow, lots and lots of snow. And a lil bit of sunshine if possible. Until then we shall make the most, even if we are having a cold and wet winter.

Progress!?

Walking the dog is not an easy task. It’s like having a part time job taking care of a fluffy toddler. And the weather is not helping me at all. For the past few days, it snowed, rained and it was really cold.

Snowing in Bucharest

Normally, I would sleep in till lunch time. With Pluto, I only get to sleep till 7AM. Once I am awake, I gather all my courage to get out of bed. It’s such a hard task, because the heat is still turned off and it’s cold even in the house. The bed is so nice and warm, even Pluto wants in.

Me and Pluto

Yup, that’s us cuddling in the morning. We’re cute like that.

I must confess sometimes I feel like letting Pluto do his business in the house so I can sleep a little longer. But I never do. No matter what, I always get out of the bed. So, my dear Pluto get’s to walk with me around 2-3 hours a day. This usually depends on the weather. If I’m lucky I may also find another dog walker with a playful pup. This way Pluto gets a playmate. Yet, I haven’t had much luck in that department. Half of the dogs in the area are bigger than my Pluto and they play too rough for my liking. And the rest of the dog population is made of smaller breeds that are aggressive towards anything that moves.

The great part of walking Pluto is no more dog poo in the house. He pee’s sometimes on the hallway, but that’s not a big problem. We can easily clean up the pee. I wasn’t expecting him to be house trained in a week.

Also, after 4 days of dog walking my legs started hurting. It seems I’ve been a couch potato for such a long time that walking is enough to give me a workout. I always say I want to get in shape, but I never do anything to get results. This time, I’m doing it for Pluto and it helps me as well.

It’s funny how I get motivated more for others than I do for myself.

Looking at the bigger picture, we’re making progress. It’s good progress for all involved. I dare say, even for Marlanu’ things are getting better. After all, Pluto is too tired to play with him when he gets home. So the cat gets more time to be a cat.

Yes, Marlanu’ get’s to sleep more than us. He gets the warmest places. And when the dog is away, the cat will play.

Same old, same old

I guess I’ve become quite bored of my new freedom. I’m stitching, watching movies and keeping the pets from destroying the house altogether.

Yet, I don’t have any energy to do other stuff. Stuff that girls my age do, like going out, work out and just take care of themselves in general. So, I guess I’m stuck.

There’s a good side to all things, I suppose. I mean, I am making good progress on my Grigorescu needlepoint project.

needlepoint

I’ve said that I will leave the black at the end but I couldn’t help myself. It’s taking shape nicely and I’m quite proud of it. I’ve stitched about 4-5 hours each day for the past few weeks (my back is killing me). It’s something that I’m actually proud of. If I finish it by the end of the year, that would make it a record for me. 3 needlepoint projects finished in the course of a year.

And then there are these two, Pluto and Marlanu’:

Pluto and Marlanu

They seem to get along whenever sleep and food is involved. I can’t actually believe how big Pluto is at the moment. And I don’t think I’ve processed the fact that he is still a pup and that he is still growing.

Oh well,  I do have big plans for the next couple of days. I am planning on taking Pluto to the park. That’s a big task since the park is a 15 minute walk from home and Pluto is not yet used to the chaos that goes on in this big city. Still, I shall try my best.

Everything is a little better

Things are better but there’s still room for improvement.

Pluto (aka Smotocel) is much better. His fur started growing back, even if he looks like a raggedy doll. Marlanu’ found a playmate. Thosse two are really funny the way they run around the house and play. Continue reading

Health scare

I don’t know how but we just have this really bad luck when it comes to pets. With Marlanu’ we were expecting him to have health issues since he was a stray. But, we weren’t expecting Pluto (Smotocel) to have so many health issues since we bought him from a breeder.

He gave us quite a scare 3 days ago. The day started so nice, everything was OK. There were no signs that he might be feeling ill, until he pooped something out of a horror movie and was throwing up. We went straight to the local vet, who gave him some shots and advised us to not give him any food or water till the next morning. Instead, to make sure we give him mint tea for his stomach pains.

We followed her instructions and it was basically an all-nighter for me, and Pluto wasn’t getting any better. Marlanu’ was the reason why I woke up Johnny and went straight to the animal clinic at 3AM.

Usually Marlanu’ sleeps with John and Pluto sleeps with me. Well, Marlanu’ didn’t leave Pluto alone at all. Wherever the dog went, the cat followed.

Pluto and Marlanu'

At the animal clinic we did multiple tests, including the one for parvo. Fortunate for us, he doesn’t have parvo, but after an X-ray we learned that his intestines we’re bloated in some areas and blocked in others, and he had a lot of gas in him. Which made his tummy hurt really bad and made him really sick.

Pluto

The vet didn’t allow us to take him back home since he got so sick in such a short period of time. We didn’t argue with him, since we we’re both tired and unable to properly look after him. We did visit Pluto the second day, he was better but still needed treatment. We we’re only able to take him back home yesterday morning. He is better, but he is on a diet, he has to go to the vet daily (for his treatment) and we also are treating him at home for his ear infection. And I won’t mention his skin condition for which we will have to get other tests done to see what exactly is the cause.

Pluto

While I am happy that Pluto is back home and is feeling better, playing around, eating properly and just being a normal pup, I am pissed that there is nothing that we can do to report the breeder. Apparently, the dog should’ve come with a warranty (seriously?!?) and there is no law that can force the breeders to improve the conditions they keep their dogs (as long as they are feed and given water, plus the fake health certificates).

The warranty part pisses me off the most. I got a dog not an appliance. Since when do living things need a warranty? I understand the pedigree part, but why a warranty?

Seriously, what’s wrong with people these days?

A new chapter

I’ve almost finished cleaning the house. I still have the laundry so I can take a small break for my house chores.

While I’m writing this, Marlanu’ is drinking water and Pluto (also known as Smotocel) is sleeping on my foot. You might wonder who Pluto is. Well, he is a 2 months old Labrador puppy. Yes, we got a dog. After many months and a lot of begging, Johnny caved in and now we are 4.

Pluto Smotocel

As you might imagine I am really happy with the outcome. We’ve bragged about him to everyone, except to my parents. In fact, it would be for the best if they didn’t find out just yet. I know it’s their house and they’ve allowed us to stay (we pay everything and take care of everything), even with a cat, but I don’t know how they’ll react to a dog that will grow to be 30 kg.

I hope we’ve done a lot of good things so they won’t be that mad when they find out. Because, they will find out and they will be mad. It’s just a matter of time.

Pluto is a really small pup for his age, even if we bought him from a “breeder”. He came to us dirty, with a fake health certificate and no pedigree. We don’t care about the pedigree, but he wasn’t dewormed and he doesn’t have his first vaccine. The vet we went today told us that the signatures and stamps on his health certificate don’t have certain things that all vets normally have.

That means we have to start from scratch with Pluto as we did with Marlanu’. That’s not a problem for us. We wouldn’t have gotten a dog if we couldn’t afford it. It’s just annoying we’ve gave money to someone that does this kind of things.

I’m also happy that Marlanu’ is not aggressive towards Pluto. We we’re worried on how the cat would react to the dog. Well, we left them together alone for 5-6 hours and nothing bad happened. Even the house was in one piece.

I just can’t wait to take him for walks and for him to learn to sleep alone. When people say dogs are like children they aren’t joking.

Freedom at last!

It’s finally over. I kept my promise and here I am, at home and currently unemployed.

It’s actually my second day of being a “lazy bum”, but I’m still feeling the effects of the night shift and sheer exhaustion. Yesterday I had a full day. I’ve cleaned, washed, had a mini trip to the country side and more housework.

But I did took time to have a bubble bath. It’s been such a long time since I had a bubble bath. Heck, in the last year I only had quick showers. It was so relaxing that once I got of the bath, I just dropped in bed and woke up at 6 AM. Yup, I still need to fix my sleep pattern. I am unable to sleep more than 6 hours per day.

I’m also happy that I had the chance to take some photos with my new phone. Mostly flower pictures, but I am still getting used with my phone.

And, I forgot to mention the Minions. They were fun to have. I was actually considering of leaving them in the yard for my nieces to find them when they visit. But, the weather had not been that great. It rained almost every day so far. I can’t complain much since it hasn’t ruined my vacation. And I didn’t want the Minions to get dirty.

I mean, my vacation has barely started. This weekend, will be going to Fetesti. Next week Marlanu’ will be going to my in-laws where he will stay for 3-4 weeks. On the 7th of August we’re going to Italy and we’ll be back on the 23rd. I think that’s about it for now. I mean, there might be other things to do, but I seriously don’t want to stress too much over them.

I just want to be the laziest bum ever. It’s not that I deserve it, it’s more that I need it. Working with people kinda messes you up.

Little improvements

The year has been stressful so far. So many things to do, and so little time (in some cases, no motivation at all).

It felt like having your soul sucked out of you. My only consolation is that things will change in 3 months. I actually can’t wait. It’s going to be a major change, hopefully a change for the better.

I did stitch in the last month. My current project is going really well.

I’ve also been reading a little bit. Other than that, nothing new. I mean, I did put on a few pounds from boredom eating, I’ve got glasses (things are so clear now), and I’ve been drinking every night for the past week. But, somehow those are not things that I feel like bragging about.

One thing I would like to change. I would like my photography inspiration to come back.

I’ve not been idle

Sorting out my mail, music, photos and my life. And yet, our room is still messy, I’m still lazy and I still don’t have things up to date.

Still, I’ve taken more photos, played more with the photography apps on my phone, I’ve went out with friends and with Johnny, and just took things easy. I am feeling much better than I was a week before.

I do believe the nice weather we’ve been having lately has improved my morale. Also, Marlanu’ has helped a lot. He’s been more affectionate lately and I do love what a good subject he is when it comes to random photography.

Marlanu’ overload

This cat has more pictures than I have, and he’s only 2 years old. I don’t even think my kids will have so many pictures. Heck, I think I’m over compensating for the fact I don’t have any picture of Snoopy (the dog we had to give away). But I can’t help it, he’s my fuzzball.
