Old fashioned?

Old fashioned?

old fashioned

Is it me, or things haven’t changed that much when it comes to taking care of yourself? I mean, we don’t see videos like this one on TV anymore (that would be something), but the rules are basically the same with some new twists and turns.

This kind of videos are really cute and, I dare say, very informative. But at the same time a bit cringe worthy. We live in a day where information is available at your fingertips. If you need to know something (especially something personal) you can just google it. And if it’s something really embarrassing you can always use incognito mode.

I just can’t imagine staying at home with your parents and watching them. I could imagine them, judging me: “Is my kid neat enough?“. Sure, some of them are innocent enough, but what about those topics? Yes, you know what I am talking about.

Have no fear, we have those kind of videos as well.

What? Were you expecting a video on sex? Well, this one is much better, hilarious actually. Talk about being old fashioned. The ending killed me! After all, “there’s no need to get out of your clothes as you were a sack of potatoes” or “there’s no point in leaving your bedroom as a cyclone struck it”. Ahh, the fun and joys of living in society, being told what is right and what is wrong. Eternally being watched and silently judged by others. Fun, fun, fun. And to think the only reason why I stumbled upon these lovely videos is because I was looking for vintage dresses. I guess being old fashioned is not as glamorous as the fashion of the times themselves.

Please don’t be primitive!

Fun times

Fun times are here! And I intend to make the most of them.

We had a full day! It might’ve started with us working our ass off (me at work and Johnny doing errands), but it ended on a nice note. We went to the country side, where we had a nice barbecue with my parents.

I love it there since it’s nice and quiet. The garden is beautiful and the roses are in full bloom.

It’s also strawberry season! While I don’t enjoy picking the strawberries since it’s hard work, I do enjoy eating them. I was pretty tired, but I did manage to pick enough for us and for my in-laws. I’m not sure when we’ll go to the country side again, but I hope we get the chance soon, because it would be a pity to miss on all the good stuff we can find there.

It was fun and for Pluto, since he got the chance to meet his two younger brothers (from another mother). Not only that, but he meet for the first time a buffalo and cows.

I am thinking seriously of spending one weekend at the country side. Just to sleep all day and relax. It’s so perfect there, because there is no cell phone signal, no Internet, nothing of the modern day distractions. I would just like to go there and read a book, eat good homemade food and just fall asleep while the crickets sing.

I’m just not sure how that idea would go with Johnny, since he enjoys falling asleep with the TV on.

Either way, it was a fun day. I might be dead tired, but I’m happy.

We’re back from Italy

We’ve just returned from our vacation. We were away in Italy from the 7th till the 23rd of August. It was an unique experience for both of us.

It was my first time out of the country and it was our first time away from Marlanu’ for more than a week.

My first thought was to make one huge post with everything we’ve done and all the places we went. But, I don’t feel like sharing all of that. First of all, it wasn’t a dream vacation. There is no such thing as a dream vacation. Second, we’ve stayed away from all the busy places, all the tourist attractions Italy has. After all, it was August and the country was packed with tourists.

We were also lucky that we were in the south. In the north of the country it rained and it is much more expensive than the south.

And we have so many photos. It’s really hard to pick just a few to show off. We’ve been to MagicLand (an amusement park), Zoo Safari (where we saw many animals), Reggia di Caserta (a beautiful place, spoiled only by the company we had), Old Caserta (again, a beautiful old village with small streets and lovely houses), Mount Vesuvius, Ischia and of course the sea side.

Below you shall find some of my favorite photos from our vacation:

It was a good vacation. I do hope we shall have more opportunities like this one.

Napoli at night

Freedom at last!

It’s finally over. I kept my promise and here I am, at home and currently unemployed.

It’s actually my second day of being a “lazy bum”, but I’m still feeling the effects of the night shift and sheer exhaustion. Yesterday I had a full day. I’ve cleaned, washed, had a mini trip to the country side and more housework.

But I did took time to have a bubble bath. It’s been such a long time since I had a bubble bath. Heck, in the last year I only had quick showers. It was so relaxing that once I got of the bath, I just dropped in bed and woke up at 6 AM. Yup, I still need to fix my sleep pattern. I am unable to sleep more than 6 hours per day.

I’m also happy that I had the chance to take some photos with my new phone. Mostly flower pictures, but I am still getting used with my phone.

And, I forgot to mention the Minions. They were fun to have. I was actually considering of leaving them in the yard for my nieces to find them when they visit. But, the weather had not been that great. It rained almost every day so far. I can’t complain much since it hasn’t ruined my vacation. And I didn’t want the Minions to get dirty.

I mean, my vacation has barely started. This weekend, will be going to Fetesti. Next week Marlanu’ will be going to my in-laws where he will stay for 3-4 weeks. On the 7th of August we’re going to Italy and we’ll be back on the 23rd. I think that’s about it for now. I mean, there might be other things to do, but I seriously don’t want to stress too much over them.

I just want to be the laziest bum ever. It’s not that I deserve it, it’s more that I need it. Working with people kinda messes you up.

Mission accomplished

I am pretty proud of myself today. Tired but proud.

I woke up this morning with just one thought: I need to clean. That’s what I did till now, I cleaned our two bedrooms and I managed to throw away so many useless things. I got rid of old bags, shoes, empty boxes and all the small things that we just didn’t need but were taking up space.

It’s amazing how many things just one person can collect over the years. And there was so much dust. It was everywhere, including on me. After I felt satisfied with the result (and when I was too tired to continue) I took a long bath. Somehow all the cleaning reminded me of a nice scene from a certain movie:

Even if I only had one day off from work where I could relax, I don’t regret anything. I really needed to just clean and declutter our personal space. It was getting to the point where we didn’t have room for us to stay.

Plus I still have the afternoon free so I can just sit back and watch some TV. Overall, today was a good and productive day.

The end of an era

I’ve made it to Nijikon this year! Usually I forget about it or don’t have any money to go. But this year, somehow I’ve made it.

I’m sorry to say this, but for me the anime conventions in Romania aren’t getting any better. Now, I’m not saying everything was that bad, heck no. I saw some awesome Cosplay, some decent merchandise, the screening room was bigger than usual but that’s about it.

The only reason I don’t regret going this year is the Totoro plushie Johnny was so kind to get me.

IMG_20131103_104156

The fee to get in was pretty high IMO. I’m going to quote Johnny on this one: “That was the most expensive fee we paid to go to the toilet, ever!”. I understand the building was rented for the weekend and they had to get the rent money somehow (and a little profit on the side) but if we are going to pay at least we should be able to see/find something worthy.

Around 80% of the merchandise was handmade, some were good others not so good (mostly not so good); only 2 shops with plushies or original anime/manga merchandise but not a lot of diversity. You could find One Piece, Sailor Moon, Fairy Tail and a few other anime related objects but that was it.

Everything there very expensive! Seriously, that Totoro plushie is very small but it was 50Ron (around 11€ or $15). 20 minutes, that’s how long we stayed at the convention.

This is it. I think I’m done with conventions. I don’t feel like paying just to be present somewhere.

But I got a Totoro so it wasn’t that bad. In fact, after leaving the convention the day became better and better. We went to the Botanical Garden. Apparently we paid for a walk in the park since every exposition there was closed. At least it was cheaper than at Nijikon. I managed to take a few photos with my phone and see a few brides.

After that lunch and a game of pool, which Johnny won. We ended the day with Pacific Rim, which wasn’t what I expected it to be. Overall it was a good day. It’s been a while since we actually went out and did many things and just had fun.

Work doodles

It is cold again. No more sunshine and no more spring like weather. It’s time for winter to take its place, after all it is November. Somehow that doesn’t depress me.

IMG_20131030_185544

I am hoping that I will take my drivers license before the snow comes and for that I need to study for the exam. It’s not going to be fun at all.

Other than that, what can I say. Nothing new, same old things. I’m just more tired than usual and I’m guessing my brain needs a break. Especially from work, but that’s not going to happen any time soon. I can only say that I am happy towards the persons that invented the pen and paper.

Doodles are a  lifesaver for me.

I might not be the greatest artist in the world, but somehow I feel proud after I finish one of these. It’s like my inner child is giddy with joy that I can still draw something. I still regret not keeping up with drawing like I used to, but that’s life. You can’t do everything, and I am focusing on studying … besides doodles, there are the eternal hiragan characters that I still can’t remember.

IMG_20131031_231426

I will get there, I won’t give up. After all I have all my life ahead to learn this language.

09/19/2013

It’s Autumn and I already have a cold. Its not that I wasn’t prepared for the chilly weather, its more that I wasn’t prepared for my colleagues. They really love me and they enjoy sharing anything with me, from food, cute things to a flu.

And that’s how I got a cold.

I can’t complain. I mean I got some really cute stuff yesterday from my colleagues. It was like a mini Christmas. Really made my day a lot easier at work.

IMG_20130919_140426

This is a food container from Ikea. Not that functional, but cute. I mean, besides a sandwich or fruits, I cannot put real food in it. It might spill and it will make a mess. Still, its something I wanted and Ikea is in the other part of town; it takes around 1 hour to get there during a normal day. I’m glad someone bought it for me.

I wanted a wallet for a while, since my wallet ended up with my mother in law (long story). But I am not prepared to spend so much money on a wallet. After all I am on poor mode for almost 3 weeks. I’m trying to save money not spend it. So, I got a mini pouch from one of my favorite friends at work. It’s perfect as a wallet for me.

IMG_20130918_184202

Its not like I will have lots of money with me, more like work card, metro card, ID and taxi vouchers. I was really happy when I got this. I don’t know if she read my mind or noticed the plastic bag I had as a replacement. Yup, I’m that cheap. Then again, we (me and Johnny) are trying to make a major step and it takes a lot of preparation and responsibility.

We are trying to save for our own place. So, for use to avoid paying our entire life for a small apartment we decided to save money and pay one big chunk of it in one go. Growing up sucks in these times. Its easier being a kid, because parents now will do anything for their kids and they spoil them rotten.

Still, it will be fun, I want to see how far can we go.

Things are better…

…then things are not better.

It’s weird but that’s how I feel at the moment. I guess things haven’t improved but they aren’t any worse either. So, things are just as they always were.

But I am happy of one thing. Soon, very soon, August will end and September will come. It will be a joyful time for me. Waking up under the blankets while outside is chilly, enjoying a good hot coffee, taking a stroll in the rain, seeing the leaves change their colors, and my favorite of them all, wearing my jackets and boots. I just can’t wait.

And with that said I just realized the year is 4 months away from ending. I still have plenty of things to do on my list. Of course, the night shift doesn’t allow me much free time or energy, but I did get the chance to start my cross stitch bookmark.

I had a hard time deciding what to stitch, but eventually decided on a Korean doll on one side and if time allows, a Japanese doll on the other side.

IMG_20130826_174559

It will be something symbolic for me since the last years were really influenced by Korea and Japan.

Road trip

Our vacation is officially over.

10 days of freedom! But, freedom is not actually the term for this vacation. I would rather say that these past 10 days have been a test of endurance and patience for the both of us. And yet I cannot complain. We had a good time with friends and family. We traveled the country high and low and I came to the conclusion that vacations can be as tiresome as working non stop.

I’m just tire and it feels good to be home. I missed my bed, I missed my computer and I missed my fat cat!

Yet I don’t regret anything.

We’ll see next year what other crazy road trip we’ll go on, until then enjoy a picture of two cows.
