This year surely started on a great note. According to the Chinese horoscope, 2011 is the year of the Hare. Me and Johnny are both born in the year of the Hare, and on our first day of the year we got to play with a very cute and friendly hare.

I’m not superstitious or anything but there were a lot of things that suggested I would have a good year. Well, that’s what I like to believe and so far nothing bad happened.

The fact that I am more tired now at the end of my vacation then when I started it only shows how much fun I had these past few days. There were so many fun things to do, many places to go to and yet so little time.

Oh and I loved ridding the train this time of the year. The rest of the world was heading towards the mountains, but we were going towards the sea and the trains were almost empty. Imagine going on the train and there’s no one else on it except you. Peace and relaxation, nothing else. I had a very weird moment, as I was enjoying the lovely winter landscape I could only hear in my head “On the road again“. Which is weird because I am not a big fan of country music but the song just came up in my mind.

Thinking about it now, it was the best song my brain could remember at that time.

In a way I’m happy that the vacation is over, but only because I wish to slow down a little bit. Just slow down enough to actually get some quality rest. Also, it seems I started work a little too early, but then again nobody told me we were not supposed to go to work until tomorrow. And I was not the only one who didn’t knew that, my father and another co-worker also came to work.

Even so I don’t regret waking up at 6 AM or taking the bus on a very cold winter morning. Did I mention it was and it is still snowing? I actually managed to clean my office and I even got myself a new 2011 notebook from work. My Japanese rose seems to have grown roots so it will need planting soon. That was a nice surprise because I thought it was going to die since it didn’t look quite right last year. I must remember to buy a lovely flower pot to plant it.

The only thing that I regret now, with the vacation ending and all, is that Johnny will go back and we won’t get to see each other for another period of time. While I know that spending time apart is doing us some good, it will be lonely.

And on that note, I think I’ll also share my traveling song. After all a new year is like traveling on a fresh paved road, even if you’ve been on the same route before.
